Hello! My name is Ene. I have a special connection with animals and I treat them with the same respect and care as I would humans.
I currently have a family of five rats, and throughout my life I have been lucky enough to share my home and time with many amazing animals. My experience comes from volunteering, fostering, pet sitting, and caring for my own animal family.
During my studies, I volunteered for two years at a dog and cat shelter, where I gained experience with dogs and cats with a wide range of personalities and needs. I worked with dogs experiencing severe anxiety, fear, and behavioral difficulties, including some dogs displaying aggressive behavior.
One of these fostering experiences was a dog with separation anxiety, and another two were two pairs of kittens who needed some extra time to grow and develop before they were ready to be adopted.
During my time living in Australia (1 year), I did long-term pet sitting in five different homes, caring for both dogs and cats. One of these stays lasted two months.
I currently volunteer at an animal sanctuary called Farm of Mercy, that's why you see some pictures with goats, chickens and sheep!
Many of the animals I have cared for have required medication (including my own rats that get sick very easy specially at their old age!) . So I'm comfortable administering non-injectable medication.
My top priority is to know to the specific needs, requests and habits of each individual animal in order to make them feel safe and happy. Its not only about food and walks right? They deserve a lot more. Mental games, socialization, emotional support...
In order to provide the best care, I like to talk with the person about this information:
Whether they are comfortable being walked on or off-leash
Socialization level with other dogs, people, and other animals
Favorite games
Fears or phobias (for example, fear of certain people, vacuum cleaners, water, etc.)
Any specific disorders
